The national synchrotron light source is the nation's largest facility dedicated solely to the production of synchrotron radiation. It provides intense beams of x-rays and ultraviolet light for use by scientists from all over the country, for research in physics, chemistry, biology and various technologies. Work at the nsls includes both basic research and practical applications of use to industry, users of the new facility include visiting scientists from universities, other national laboratories, and corporations.
