A spring day following a winter of heavy snows in the high country was a delight.

Sycamore Creek was flowing, flowers were in bloom, birds and butterflies were flitting about, and the trees were leafing out in that refreshing green unique to springtime. This four-mile hike into Sycamore Canyon Wilderness on Parsons Trail, Coconino National Forest, Arizona is a pleasant stroll along the creek into the magnificent and colorful cliffs of Sycamore Canyon, Arizona's second largest canyon. Sycamore Canyon Wilderness was one of the first wilderness areas protected in Arizona. This is one of the more popular trails on the Coconino National Forest. Take extra care to leave no trace of your passing and help protect this wonderful, wild place. Photo taken April 1, 2017. (Forest Service photo by Deborah Lee Soltesz).
