Hell's Half Acre (actually 320 acres), is a deep and rugged canyon filled with sharp pinnacles and other rock formations in the middle of an otherwise flat prairie west of Casper in Natrona County, Wyoming.
Passersby, including emigrants on the Oregon and Mormon trails and Pony Express routes that crossed Wyoming in the 19th Century, called the spot "The Devil's Kitchen," "The Pits of Hades," and "The Baby Grand Canyon" until a cowhand appeared and thought he was at Hell's Half Acre, another area southwest of Casper full of alkali and bogs.
