The humble, artistic Shoshone Tribal Cemetery spreads across the undulating prairie outside the town of Fort Washakie, Wyoming.
It is the burial ground of the Eastern Shoshone tribe, which -- in an arrangement unique in the nation -- shares the nearby Wind River Reservation with another tribe -- the Northern Arapahoe. The latter people were relocated to the Shoshones' land with a promise, never kept, that they would soon get their own reservation. Original image from Carol M.
