Abstract: This color postcard shows a nurse with a young soldier from French-occupied Algeria. The nurse stands over the soldier, looking down at him. She wears a long blue dress with wide sleeves, a beaded belt, and a large gold cross on a blue ribbon around her neck. She also wears a white cornette. Her left arm rests on the soldier's bedroll and the other on his right shoulder. The Algerian soldier is seated and holding his rifle with bayonette in his left hand. He wears dark pants, a blue shirt and a red fez-like hat, with a bag worn on a strap across his body and a bedroll on his back. His right arm is in a sling. On his lap is a German officer's spiked helmet, a symbol of German defeat and a souvenir from the battlefield.
