California Center for Cooperative Development (CCCD) Cooperative Facilitator Angelica Medina (not seen) will assist with the cleaning at today's job site to gain work experience that supports her marketing duties and ability to make accurate estimates of work and fees to charge prospective customers. Medina supports the building of small business that are cooperatively owned. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is one of many organizations that award grants to businesses such as CCCD is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that promotes cooperatives and help them build their capabilities to address the economic and social needs of California’s communities. CCCD supports agricultural, arts and crafts, childcare, energy, housing, and a variety of worker-owned cooperative businesses with start-up, management, and other technical assistance. As businesses become self-sufficient, it’s members share in the rewards, decisions and responsibilities. Fernandez and Garcia are new and are employed by YECC. They hope to prove themselves and join the worker/owners of YECC. A steady income and flexible hours better provides the time and money for their families. USDA Media by Lance Cheung.
