Ms. Phan Chancotheary performs a microscopy test.

As Vice Chief of her province’s health center, Ms. Phan is skilled in using microscopy to detect malaria infections and identify the species of mosquito that transmitted the infection. The process is an important tool in the fight against malaria in Cambodia because it informs where the mosquito has come from so future malaria transmission can be interrupted.

PMI and the Cambodia Malaria Elimination Project support Ms. Phan and her health center by providing microscopy training to local staff and empowering the community.
