Douglas military aircraft Army. The Douglas C-47 is the military version of the commercial transport DC-3 used by the airline companies. It is a twin-engined, low-wing monoplane capable of carrying heavy cargo. The main cabin is provided with a large loading door and a reinforced floor. It may also be arranged with folding benches to accomodate twenty-eight fully equipped fighting men. Sourced from the Library of Congress.
