The beef kill. Cattle are brought into this narrow alley by means of an electric prodder; they are then knocked out by a blow on the head. Steel doors on the left then open up and cows fall into the next room where they are shackled by hind legs. Then they move by chain belt throught processes of throat slitting, decapitation, evisceration, skinning, etc. Packing plant, Austin, Minnesota. Sourced from the Library of Congress.
