Poarch Band of Creek Indians (PBCI) Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve (MBWR) Longleaf pine forest, near Atmore, in rural Escambia County, Alabama, on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
Over the past several years, about one million long leaf seedlings have been planted at the reserve. A variety of plant grow and helps the soil and wildlife. A prescribed burn of these understory plants will reveal young longleaf pine trees that are about a foot tall. The burn will help provide nutrients and additional sunlight to trees.
