The Gears of Government Presidental Award was presented to a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Team in Washington, DC on 22 May 2019.

This AMS team ensures USDA programs are delivered efficiently, effectively, and with integrity and a focus on customer service. This team is comprised of Robert Wintersteen, Marc McFetridge, Michael Sheats, and Roger Cryan, who worked to streamline the process of reviewing Section 32 purchases to reduce the processing time and better enable the Department to provide wholesome food to all Americans. In the second half of last year alone, AMS was able to cost-effectively, purchase on a timely basis, 15 types of fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat products worth over $300 million to feed hungry Americans. The ability of AMS to help industries in a more timely and efficient manner allows Section 32 purchases to increase domestic consumption and benefit low-income families. Robert, Marc, Michael, and Roger have demonstrated what it means to provide the best possible service to our customers – the farmers, ranchers, foresters, and producers of American agriculture and “do right and feed everyone.” GSA courtesy photo.
