U.S. Sailors of Navy Region-Hawaii's Funeral Honors Staff fold the American flag over the remains of U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class Monroe Temple of Des Moines, Iowa, who was laid to rest July 12, 2017, in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Temple was assigned to the USS Oklahoma (BB 37), which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen, including Temple. Temple was recently identified through DNA analysis and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
