The copper accelerator structures are made up of more than 200 precision machined copper cells.
The Next Linear Collider (NLC) is being developed by a collaboration of four doe laboratories - Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), lawrence livermore, and lawrence berkeley national laboratories, and fermi national accelerator laboratory (fnal or fermilab). physicists believe that the nlc, and other extreme high-energy particle accelerators will lead the way in answering some of the most fundamental questions of science, such as how particles acquire mass, the structure of space-time and what constitutes the dark matter of the universe.
