Dish stirling system used at the 1996 summer Olympic games at Atlanta, GA. (June 1996)
This solar thermal dish stirling was used to provide electricity to Atlanta's local electricity grid. doe and American industry are working together to demonstrate the capability of generating electric power to remote locations using solar thermal dish stirling technology. Such units are useful for providing rural villages with electricity and power for water pumping. This reduces dependence on diesel fuel and helps create a cleaner environment.
