Through EQIP, NRCS worked with landowner, David Lyons, to restore this section of Moore Creek.
Moore Creek runs under Hwy 287 and through Ennis. The Madison Conservation District was also a critical partner to the stream restoration work. The stream now more closely resembles its historical streambed. As part of the stream restoration, local resources were harvested and used along the banks. Roughly 500 willows, trees and shrubs were planted for bank stabilization and habitat for wildlife. Additionally, old corrals were removed from the stream bank helping to prevent sediment entering the stream. The stream was also fenced to prevent livestock access except at designated points. Lyons also worked with NRCS on a more efficient irrigation system and grazing plan. In another project, Lyons and his wife also installed a high tunnel. Just south of Ennis, Madison County, MT.
