NHG Continues to Fight COVID-19.
200422-N-VR594-1026 NAVAL BASE GUAM, Guam (April 22, 2020) Hospitalman Karlie Doll, assigned to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam (NHG), from Wasilla, Alaska, places a patient sample, collected from a Sailor assigned to aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), into a vial holder at the specimen processing center. NHG is assisting the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, during a COVID-19 public health outbreak investigation among the crew of Theodore Roosevelt. The purpose of the outbreak investigation is to enhance the Navy’s understanding of the outbreak, inform future COVID-19 decisions and guidance, influence future testing strategies and operational planning, and provide COVID-19 mitigation measures to ensure mission readiness of the Theodore Roosevelt and other Navy assets. Theodore Roosevelt is in Guam for a scheduled port visit for resupply and crew rest during their scheduled deployment to the Indo-Pacific. Original public domain image from Flickr
