Snowbowl Road: Aspen Corner

Fall color at Aspen Corner on Snowbowl Road, October 5, 2016. Aspens are in full color, approaching peak or peaking, all along Snowbowl Road.

The drive up Snowbowl Road ascends over 1500' from Highway 180 to the base of Agassiz Peak, home of the Arizona Snowbowl. The winding road and golden autumn aspens make the drive as rewarding as the destination.

In the spring, summer, and early fall, the Arizona Snowbowl's ski lift turns into a Sky Ride. The triple chair takes you to the upper slopes of Agassiz Peak at 11,500 feet. Here, above tree line, you can see the Grand Canyon's North Rim over 80 miles away. The view of the dormant volcano field surrounding Flagstaff is striking as well, with Kendrick Peak, Wild Bill Hill and Wing Mountain standing out as prominent landmarks.
