Christ Church, Russell
Christ Church in Russell, New Zealand, is the country's oldest surviving church. Built in 1835, it was registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust on 24 November 1983 and has registration number 1. The building has a category I listing.
Its beginnings go back to the earliest years of Maori European contact in the Bay of Islands when missionaries from across the harbour at the Paihia mission station rowed across to take services in private homes. Original public domain image from Flickr
