First day as a monarch butterfly
And there she is! Just like that, the chrysalis we had been watching is now a butterfly! The monarchs wings will dry and she'll be off in search of her first meal as a butterfly. We wish her luck on her journey to overwintering habitat in Mexico! Hard to believe she was a caterpillar just 13 days ago.
Note: This transformation occurred in the wild. If you'd like to help monarchs, we recommend creating pollinator habitat by planting milkweed and other nectar sources native to your area.
