American dog tick
We spotted this American dog tick perched at the end of some foliage. Remember to always check for ticks after spending time outside - even in your yard or in a park. These ticks can transmit tularemia which is an infectious disease that attacks the skin, eyes, lymph nodes and lungs as well as Rocky Mountain spotted fever which is a bacterial infection that causes vomiting, sudden high fever, headache, abdominal pain, rash and muscle aches.
