Oyster mushrooms on dead tree
Dead trees make wonderful habitat. Bats can shelter under peeling shingles of bark, grub-infested wood provides a feast for a variety of woodpeckers, and the wood itself is a home for mushrooms such as these Oyster Mushrooms. If you have a large yard or tract of land, consider leaving dead trees standing a while; see what comes along!
