Wild Turkey with Chicks
Unlike their heavy, domesticated counterparts, these wild turkey chicks will one day be able to fly. According to the National Wild Turkey Foundation, wild turkeys can reach flight speeds of up to 55mph. These big birds will use that ability to soar to the tops of trees and escape ground dwelling predators. In early November, turkeys move from open fields with dwindling food supplies to mature forests where acorns, a dietary staple, are abundant.
