Corps' deputy commanding general tours Folsom spillway project
Major Gen. Richard Stevens (right), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' deputy commanding general, shares his thoughts during a tour of the new spillway project in Folsom, California, May 12, 2015. 'Our ultimate customers are the American taxpayers,' said Stevens. 'The long term flood risk reduction that this project is going to enable reinforces our commitment to the public safety of the people of the United States. That’s why a project likes this is so critical.' The Corps, together with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and state and local partners, is building the spillway to reduce flood risk throughout the Sacramento region.
