Gas leak prompts emergency response on Presidio
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – Presidio of Monterey staff and students were evacuated for nearly two hours from five buildings at the beginning of the workday because of a gas leak May 21. The City of Monterey Fire, Presidio of Monterey Fire Department and other assistance responded to work the incident while Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) staff fixed the leak. Prior to allowing buildings to be re-occupied, POM Fire Department staff conducted inspections to confirm they were ready for resumption of business. During the event, the installation remained open, but the area around the leak was closed to all but emergency traffic.
