OVER CENTRAL GERMANY -- A quartet of AH-64D Longbow Apache helicopters from V Corps'
6th Squadron, 6th U.S. Cavalry, 11th Aviation Regiment, cruises over a German village, July 22, 2002, en route to their new station at Illesheim Army Airfield, Germany. The birds flew home as part of a mass formation of the squadron's 22 new Longbows. The helicopters' return to Germany marked the end of a yearlong process of outfitting the squadron with the state-of-the-art Longbows as part of the Army's transformation of aviation assets.
