Turkey Creek
Turkey Creek — Turkey Creek is a beautiful tannic stream within the Francis Marion National Forest in South Carolina. We recently deployed Hester-Dendy (H-D) artificial substrate samplers upstream and downstream of the bridge at Highway 41. This effort is to look at the possible effects of contaminants, from bridge run-off during rain events, on the benthic invertebrate community downstream of this major highway bridge. After six weeks, the samplers will be collected, preserved, and analyzed for benthic invertebrate colonization.
