Entrance to the Hacienda Del Sol, a historic resort in Tucson, Arizona.
The Spanish Colonial-style property got its start in 1929 as a boarding school and, later, a college preparatory school for girls. In the late 1930s prominent Tucson architect Josias Joesler rebuilt areas of the property that had been damaged by fire. Thereafter it morphed into a guest ranch that became a destination for Hollywood actors, including Clark Gable and John Wayne, who were passing through or filming western movie nearby.
