4 Years Good Conduct Medal
In 1857 the City of Toronto Board of Education instituted a program of certificates to encourage school attendance. The certificates were given for regularity and punctuality of attendance, as well as for good conduct while at school. The first attendance medals were issued in 1889. A bronze medal was issued for four years and a silver medal for eight years. This medal probably dates from the early 1900s. Original public domain image from Flickr
