Thyreus white species, f, side, ethiopia

Another Thyreus...this one white and of unknown species and from Ethiopia. You can see from frazzled ends of the wings this female was relatively old. Like all Thyreus it breaks open the nests of Amegilla and perhaps other related species such as Anthophora. An odd rather hump-backed shape for a bee, lovely patterns of short appressed highly plumose brilliant white hairs.

The murmuring of bees has ceased;

But murmuring of some

Posterior, prophetic,

Has simultaneous come,--

The lower metres of the year,

When nature's laugh is done,--

The Revelations of the book

Whose Genesis is June.
