Silver hair wasp, face
Here from the MAGLEV proposed impact site on the Federal Biological Research Reserves outside of Washington come of a near bee wasp. This jobber here is in the former Sphecidae group which now has been split between Sphecidae and Crabronidae (I am leaning Sphecidae, but not 100% on that). Their wing veination is very similar to bees and they cross-mis-identification happens regularly. One hint here is the silvery (versus white) hairs on the face, which is a wasp thing not a bee thing. More accurate ids welcome. Photo by Anders Croft.
We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.
