murder hornet back
MURDER HORNET FRIDAY. Picture#4. Vespa mandarinia. Giant Hornets in the genus Vespa do not naturally occur in the Western Hemisphere. They range over Europe, Asia, and Africa, but...particularly Asia.. Wikipedia lists 20 species. Until recent discovery of V. mandarinia in BC and WA only V. crabro (European Hornet) had made its way to our hemisphere. In Europe I know of at least 2 Asian species that have invaded. One, at least, is having an impact on Honey Bees (V. velutina). One hopes that these additional species do not make it across the ocean (though they are expected) and that Asian Giantscan be controlled.
We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.
