Epeolus americanus, m, back, Rockingham, VA
I hunt Colletes nests. This is the Epeolus motto (This would also make a good prison tattoo, who would mess with you with that on their neck?). Here is Epeolus americanus, which Colletes it favors to hunt is not clear (this is true for most Epeolus, so get on this people!). Relativley easy to tell because it only 2 submarginals. Specimen from Ellison Orcutt from the mountains of Virginia and photo by Erick Hernandez.
We Are Made One with What We Touch and See
We are resolved into the supreme air,
We are made one with what we touch and see,
With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,
With our young lives each spring impassioned tree
Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range
The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.
