Eupatorium perfoliatum, boneset flowers close-up, Howard County, MD

Boneset, Eupatoriuim perfoliatum. More of a wasp plant than a bee plant. I have not been super impressed with this plant as a beeatractor. Though, a googling of this plant would indicate otherwise. I could very well be wrong, but I spend a lot of time in the field trying to hunt bees, so a common plant like this one gets looked at regularly. I suspect a conspiracy driven by the Eupatorium consortium. Watch out. Picture and specimens by Helen Lowe Metzman.

We Are Made One with What We Touch and See

We are resolved into the supreme air,

We are made one with what we touch and see,

With our heart's blood each crimson sun is fair,

With our young lives each spring impassioned tree

Flames into green, the wildest beasts that range

The moor our kinsmen are, all life is one, and all is change.
