Weir skimmers (top) and brush skimmers (bottom) are ready to be deployed for an oil spill. These and other important response equipment are maintained in warehouses and storage yards around the country by oil spill removal organizations (OSRO) to be deployed quickly for offshore oil spills. BSEE Preparedness Analysts from the Oil Spill Preparedness Division (OSPD) regularly conduct equipment inspections at these storage sites to ensure offshore facility owners and operators have access to the appropriate equipment listed in the oil spill response plans and that the equipment is in good working condition.
