NRCS Supervisory District Conservationist Ann Fischer and landowner Dan Buerkle check the root systems of growing plants in a field of corn planted as part of crop rotation system on B&B Farms. This plant has a well developed root system, especially considering the dry weather conditions to date. This field has good residue and soil cover, lowering soil temperature, and preserving soil moisture. Soil temperature in this location was 79 degrees, in locations with little soil cover the soil temperature was 93 degrees. Placed into rotational system both as a cash crop and also to build soil biology. Dan Buerkle practices the soil health principles on both rangeland and cropland. B&B Farms, Fallon County, MT. June 2021.
