As part of 3-F Dairy decommissioning and transition to an easement, NRCS is working with producer on a nutrient management plan to deal with manure left on site. The 3-F Dairy, owned by the Flikkema family, worked with NRCS to decommission the animal feeding operation associated with the dairy. This work will remove corrals, buildings, and other agricultural debris from the banks of Godfrey Creek and revegetate the streambanks. Removing the animal feeding operation from the riparian area will improve water quality, decrease erosion, and improve the riparian habitat. The Flikkema family will be retiring and no longer be operating a dairy. This project originated through partnership effort that identified impaired stream restoration as a priority in Gallatin County. Funding came through the NRCS's National Water Quality Initiative. The farm is also part of an NRCS Agricultural Land Easement. 3-F Dairy, Gallatin County, MT. July 2021.
