Splash for Trash 2021
The third-annual Splash for Trash, hosted by Greenville Noon Rotary, drew nearly 100 volunteers to Town Common on Saturday, July 31 to assist in cleanup efforts along the Tar River. The majority of trash collected consisted of plastic bottles; other items removed from the river include building materials, playground and sports equipment, numerous tires, a shopping cart, intact massage chair, and part of a dock. Litter was collected in reusable mesh and compostable bags, and plastics will be processed by Greenville-based Restoring Another Waterway (RAW) who recycle discarded plastics into new products.
